Procedures and Policies

Students are responsible for the following:

  • To be in class seated and begin work before the bell rings.
  • To actively be a part of the class by taking notes, offering solutions, asking questions, and presenting board work.  Asking questions is especially encouraged.
  • To respect your fellow students.
  • To maintain the cleanliness of the classroom.
  • To complete homework assignments on time. This means by the next class after homework has been assigned unless otherwise stated.
  • To discuss the cause of any absence with the teacher.  When there is knowledge of a future absence, the teacher should be informed before the absence.

Grading policy:

Final grades will be based on the following:

                                     Exams and Quizzes:   40%

                                                   Homework:   30%

Class work, notebook and participation:   30%

Though exams will focus on the most recently covered material, students are responsible for each topic covered the entire semester.  There usually will not be a review before an exam. If an exam is missed due to absence, a note must be provided for a make-up to be given.

Homework is assigned daily and is due the following class unless otherwise noted.  Late homework assignments will not be accepted. In the case of an absence, the student will be given until the class after his or her return to hand in missed assignments.  See either of us should the absence be an extended one (three or more days).

Note Taking:

You are expected to take notes and solve problems every day. Each day’s notes will be kept in a folder that you must have with you every day. At the end of each week, all notes and homeworks will be moved to a binder that will remain in the classroom for your future reference.

LoMA’s Non-negotiables:

1. No personal electronic equipment (smartphones, headphones, etc.) may be visible during class

2. No food or drink except water allowed in class

3. You must move your seat if asked by an adult

4. Your face and ears must be visible at all times (No hoods, must be seated upright)
