Amanda graduated in 2004 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance Studies and graduated in 2011 with a Masters of Arts degree in Dance Education (K-12) from New York University. She specializes in hip-hop and contemporary, choreography, competition dance, production, videography, and sound editing. She has performed in numerous live shows throughout the U.S., a few highlights include, dancing for hip-hop recording artist Lil' Kim (2003), Ne-Yo and Lady Sovereign (2010), a soloist and company member with Bellan Contemporary Dance Theater (2008), Hip Hop International, World of Dance, and Prelude Urban Dance Competition. Amanda has been choreographing since the age of 14, teaching in private dance studios, guest teaching for intensives and workshops, and has been a full time dance teacher in the public school setting since 2004. She’s been the dance director at Lower Manhattan Arts Academy (NY) since spring of 2011 and has been dance faculty at the Harlem School of the Arts (NY) since fall 2011. In 2013, she was recognized as one of the top fifty teachers in New York City receiving the NYC Big Apple Teacher Excellence Award, awarded by former mayor Mike Bloomberg, and in February of 2015 she was featured in Dance Teacher Magazine. She realized in her undergraduate studies leadership, teaching, choreographing, mentoring, and directing was her passion and calling in life, she also enjoys performing whenever possible.

Training with Amanda, "Ms. Pope/Ms. A," has promoted remarkable success early in young dancers careers, such as, participating in prestigious elite level dance competitions, training programs, and conventions. A few of her students have signed with major dance agencies and management companies, have booked numerous dance jobs and toured the world as professional dancers. Many of her dancers have earned full scholarships to further their dance training and many attend universities and colleges pursuing dance and other professions.

In 2005, she founded her first dance company Dreams in Motion, an after school competing and performance hip-hop team and co-founded Young Choreographer Collective summer dance intensive (NC). After relocating to NYC she founded a new dance team and company, Amanda Pope Dance Company (Chimera Concept). Along with training with Amanda, her award winning company is geared toward pre-professional level dance training with other reputable teachers and choreographers and exposure to pre-professional level opportunities, such as live performances, dance intensives, workshops, industry level dance competitions, community arts events, and performing at charitable events. Ms. Amanda dedicates most of time to developing her artistry, directing, teaching, choreographing, judging dance competitions, and coaching and mentoring aspiring dance teachers and choreographers. She believes that with the proper training, self-motivation, work ethic, discipline, and support all who are passionate and driven in life are capable of pursing their dreams and career goals.
